The Leathersellers’ Visitation Day 2024
The Leathersellers’ annual Visitation Day was a resounding success for all involved as Members of the Leathersellers’ Company were welcomed to Colfe’s.
The yearly visitation of the school trustees, the Worshipful Company of Leathersellers, was greatly enjoyed by all this term, with the Master of the Leathersellers Mark Williams, the Clerk Matthew Lawrence, Chairman of Governors Matthew Pellereau in attendance, as well as Officers of the Leathersellers’ Company and school governors.
As well as a tour, the visit included a celebration of all the school has achieved in the past year, with a luncheon in glorious summer weather and speeches accompanied by a student jazz band. Students’ fundraising for Cancer Research was also very generously match funded by the Leathersellers’ Company in a cheque presented to the new school captains.
Headmaster Richard Russell said: “Colfe’s has cherished a close relationship with the Leathersellers’ Company since Abraham Colfe entrusted the school to the Company in 1657, with annual visits instructed in his will. This has since resulted in the introduction of the school’s pioneering Leatherseller Scholarship programme and the crucial involvement of Members of the Company in the school governing body. Colfe’s, as always, welcomes the yearly opportunity to show appreciation for the work of the Leathersellers’ Company and to update them on the progress of the school.”
