Technology Inspiration Day: Artificial Intelligence
As part of Technology Inspiration Day, pupils across the Senior school were treated to a glimpse into the future with an enthralling lecture on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence from industry leader Raia Hadsell.
Raia is a Senior Director of Research and Robotics at DeepMind, one of the world’s leading artificial intelligence research laboratories. She oversees the strategy for DeepMind’s exploratory research, exploring new innovations in AI, described as “one of humanity’s most useful inventions.”
A rapt audience of pupils from Years 7 and 8, along with those studying Computer Science from Years 9-12 heard about latest developments in technology, and found out what it is like to work in that field. Imaginations were certainly captured, and Raia answered many questions from the pupils.
Head of Computer Science Katy Walsh said, “It was a privilege to host Raia and hear such fascinating insights into the cutting-edge world of AI and robotics. The pupils were captivated, and judging from some of the questions asked, a future in this growth industry definitely beckons for some.”
