‘The opportunities my time at Colfe’s gave me went far beyond academic education alone. Sport was important to me in my school years and played a major part in my own development. It also provided the foundations for continued enjoyment and a wide range of
friendships in adulthood. For other pupils it may have been a chance to develop an interest in music, drama or a host of activities in addition to the core academic programme.
Had Colfe’s been a fee paying school in my time there I would have been very unlikely to attend. The fees would have been beyond my parental means. Consequently my life would likely have been very different to the one I’ve enjoyed.
My bequest to Colfe’s Charitable Trust gives the opportunity for local children who would not otherwise be able to attend the school to do so. That is potentially life changing for them. I can think of a no more fulfilling or impactful legacy.’
