Assessment & Entrance Exams

Information for main entry points

11+
The entrance examinations at 11+ take place in January each year and candidates are required to spend a full school day at Colfe’s. The morning will consist of assessments in English and Mathematics and a group interview. Both Mathematics and English assessments will be written (paper-based). Lunch will then be followed by an afternoon of taster lessons in co-curricular areas. Scholarship candidates will be interviewed separately in the weeks following the assessment.

16+
Entrance into the Sixth Form involves submitting a written personal statement as well as two recent school reports. Those wishing to apply for an academic scholarship (including Leathersellers’ Scholarships) will be required to sit an examination – candidates can choose between an essay-based or mathematics assessment. Successful candidates will be invited to interview and offers made are conditional on achieving at least four Grade 7/A at GCSE. At this stage we will also ask for a reference from the pupil’s current school.
