In A-level Business, you will study the four functional areas of Finance, HR, Marketing and Operations. Problem solving skills are paramount, as is an interest in the world around you: how can small firms compete with online giants such as Amazon? Why do well known businesses like Spotify struggle to make profit? How can the rise of the discount supermarkets such as Aldi be explained?
Exams are split over the two years of study and require you to display a thorough knowledge of the course content and offer judgement on a variety of enterprise issues, evaluating business behaviour from the perspective of a range of stakeholders.
You are expected to engage in this subject where we hope that you will appreciate the contribution of business to society and topical issues such as sustainability. You are given the opportunity to take part in a number of departmental initiatives such as share dealing competitions through to the current affairs club.
The A-level Business course follows the Cambridge International specification with opportunity to take half of the A-level early in Year 13.
