Rycroft's Rugby Rumble
A special rugby tournament is being held at the weekend to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Fox ward, Colchester Hospital Children’s ward, and Shwachman Diamond Syndrome (SDS) UK charities.
The event has been organised by former Colfe’s History teacher and now Tougher Minds consultant Andy Foster in memory of his young son Rycroft, with all proceeds from the day donated to the charities that supported Rycroft and his family.
The contesting teams are from organisations also close to Mr Foster’s heart, with alumni from his old school Bradford Grammar and his alma mater Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, alongside a team from his own current rugby club Old Colfeians RFC .
While the matches themselves will no doubt inspire hearty competition, the event promises plenty of other family fun, with music, food vans and a BBQ, a bouncy castle, inflatable slide and even a ball playpit for the younger visitors.
Rycroft’s Rugby Rumble takes place at Old Colfeians RFC on Saturday 20 April 2024, with games starting at 12pm. Families and guests from across the Colfe’s community are warmly invited to come along to the day to join the fun, help commemorate Rycroft’s life and raise money for his charities.
