Rise to Success for Fencing Star
At the age of just 13 Thea (Y9) continues her meteoric rise in the world of fencing after being selected to represent Great Britain in the U17 Epée Cadet category on the European tour in Budapest.
Thea has already accumulated an impressive number of accolades, including gold medal at the U14 Girls Epée at the Manchester Youth Series earlier in the month and 5th placement at the British Championships in the summer, and is firmly established as a top competitor not only in her own age group but also amongst girls four years her senior.
She is now on a pathway to fight for a Team GB place at world championships, European and Commonwealth Games.
Director of Sport Nicci Rayes said: “We are extremely proud of Thea and her remarkable achievements in fencing. She regularly competes against girls several years older than herself, and demonstrates exceptional dedication to the sport. She is now fencing proudly with her GBR patches and mask. We are behind her all the way and are all very excited about her future in the sport.”
