This year’s Y13 cohort has seen the school’s largest ever number of offers from overseas universities, with five students holding offers from a wide range of universities in the US, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Colfe’s offers a dedicated service for Overseas University applications, providing bespoke support for students from Year 11 onwards considering such applications. This year’s results represent the highest number of overseas offers yet received, with a 100% success rate.
American university offers cover the breadth of the country, from the University of California San Diego in the west to the University of Miami in the south east, with Northwestern University in Chicago in between. Further offers include the Jacobs School of Music at the University of Indiana, Leiden University in the Netherlands and Leuven University in Belgium.
Fred, who has accepted an offer to read Economics at Northwestern University, Chicago said: “Studying in America appealed to me largely because of the flexibility of the course, and the opportunities it will offer me. The process for applying for university in the US is quite different from the UK, and the support I got from the Overseas applications team was essential. It included helping with deadlines and references, and lots of guidance for me on the information I specifically needed to provide.”
Oscar, who has accepted an offer to study Sports Administration at the University of Miami, said: “The course I plan to do has an excellent combination of academic and hands-on learning, including internships with sporting bodies such as the Spanish football league. Mrs Herman was so helpful throughout the whole application process. I didn’t really know how to go about applying, but the direct contact and the sessions I had with the Overseas Applications service guided me through the whole process.”
Overseas Applications Coordinator and Teacher of Chemistry Ellie Herman said: “Studying overseas can enrich academic studies, provides a fantastic opportunity to explore other cultures, and can expand career prospects. Overseas university applications are becoming an increasingly popular choice as students widen their options and look at opportunities beyond our shores. The application process has specific requirements, and preparation begins earlier than UCAS applications, so it is important to provide tailored guidance and support to our students. I am absolutely delighted for these five students who are holding a range of fantastic offers.”
