Reception pupils had an exciting trip travelling to County Hall to visit one of London’s newest attractions, the Paddington Bear Experience, where they were thoroughly immersed in the magical world of the much-loved bear.

Entering the experience through the doors of Mr Gruber’s Antiques store, the children were given a mission to get Aunt Lucy’s marmalade recipe safely to Paddington in time for Marmalade Day. They embarked the train from Paddington to Windsor Gardens, arriving at no32 to be welcomed by Mrs Brown before helping housekeeper Mrs Bird restore some order to the kitchen following some chaos caused by the hapless bear.  A trip to Peru was next on the agenda, where the children helped forage for missing oranges, before arriving at the Marmalade Day Festival itself where they had great fun dancing to a calypso band and sampling marmalade-based treats and even got to meet the Bear himself.

Reception Form Teacher Helen Walsh said: “It was a great treat for our Reception pupils to go on this trip, and they thoroughly enjoyed their day. The world of Paddington is such a charming one and the Experience totally captured the magic of the films. It was a very exciting and busy day for the children, and they all coped with it extremely well and behaved beautifully. One pupil even said it was ‘the best day ever!’”
