The Drama department was thrilled to welcome Jane Streeton, head of the singing team at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), who gave a fantastic singing and performance masterclass to Senior pupils.
Jane is the co-author of the book Singing on Stage: An Actor’s Guide, nominated for Outstanding Book of the Year for Theatre and Higher Education. For many years she has led the RADA singing team, playing a key role in voice training for actors and musical theatre in West End musicals, the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre and the BBC.
During the two-hour class, the group learnt a wide range of vocal techniques for acting and singing, across a range of musical genres, as well as practices for building confidence in public performance and learning how to enhance storytelling and stage presence through singing.
The afternoon included an informal Q&A session, where the students were able to ask questions about the industry, preparing for auditions, techniques and training tips.

Jane has given masterclasses around the world, with stars including Cynthia Erivo and Imelda Staunton, and has supreme expertise. This masterclass was a wonderful enrichment opportunity for our keen performers, from which they gained invaluable insight, technique and industry tips.”
