Pupils in KS1 and KS2 enjoyed a memorable visit from renowned polar explorer Alex Hibbert on Wednesday 9 September, as he shared stories of adventure, perseverance and determination from his expeditions in some of the world’s most extreme environments.

Inspired by the great Arctic and Antarctic explorers who came before him, Alex spoke about the challenges he has faced on his own remarkable journeys, offering pupils a fascinating insight into life at the ends of the earth. Through engaging presentations and lively discussions, he encouraged children to think about the importance of resilience, teamwork and embracing challenges with a positive mindset.

The pupils impressed Alex with their thoughtful questions, demonstrating both curiosity and enthusiasm for exploration. They also had the opportunity to meet Alex in person and have copies of his book Polar Eskimo signed.

Reflecting on his visit, Alex said:

“In a world that is offering the newest generation of children more opportunities than ever, but also more potential pitfalls, it’s critical that thoughtful resilience is nurtured from the very start. I saw every sign of that within the dozens of children I had the pleasure of speaking to at Colfe’s and hope I made a contribution.”

We are grateful to Alex for taking the time to visit Colfe’s and inspire our pupils through his experiences, and to our Junior School staff for helping to make the day such a success.
