Colfe’s School is delighted to celebrate the success of Isabella (Y9) and Elena (Y10), who have secured coveted places with the prestigious National Youth Theatre (NYT) this year. Congratulations also go to a strong group of pupils placed on the waiting list: Greta (Y9), James (Y12), Harriet (Y9), Avina (Y9) and Cecilia (Y10). In addition, a number of pupils are awaiting outcomes for National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) courses.

NYT auditions are renowned for their rigour, with more than 5,000 young people applying each year from across the UK. Securing a place represents an outstanding achievement, reflecting both outstanding talent and sustained commitment.

The National Youth Theatre is one of the UK’s most respected theatre and arts organisations, with an alumni network that includes many leading actors and technical theatre professionals. As well as participating in an intensive summer course, successful applicants become NYT members, gaining access to auditions and professional castings, creative training opportunities and invitations to audition for the NYT Rep Company.

This success builds on Colfe’s long-standing strength in the performing arts. Over the past eight years, more than 30 Colfe’s students have secured NYT and NYMT places, including several current members already at the school.

Natalie Maher, Director of Drama, said: “Progressing to the audition or waiting list stage with organisations such as the National Youth Theatre is a significant recognition of talent and potential. For Isabella and Elena to gain a place at their young age represents an outstanding achievement and reflects their talent and sustained commitment. This level of achievement reflects not only the students’ individual dedication but also the culture of ambition, creativity, and resilience within the department. It is a proud moment for the school.
