This year’s Sport and Exercise Science BTEC results have been announced, with all pupils achieving Distinctions. D* D* (equivalent to A*A*) was achieved by eight out of the cohort of 12, with the other 4 students obtaining an impressive D*D (equivalent to A*A).

The BTEC Sport and Exercise Science is a two-year long course, equivalent to two A-Levels, where students develop an understanding of topics such as psychology, field and laboratory fitness testing, sociocultural issues, physiology and nutrition. The BTEC units provide opportunities during the teaching and learning phase to give students practice developing employability skills such as interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills.

Nicci Rayes, Director of Sport, said: “We are so proud of our BTEC students for achieving such fantastic results. The Sport and Exercise Science course is a tough and challenging one, and for all the cohort to achieve double Merit or Distinction is outstanding. We are delighted that many of our students have accepted offers from top universities such as the University of Bath, Loughborough University and Russell Groups such as the University of Leeds.”

It has been a hugely successful term for the Sports Department, with fabulous results from the senior school sports teams. This year’s athletics championships saw 20 records broken – with Miya (Y8) breaking three in one day. Spectators were also treated to a masterclass by Ekenne (Y11) who holds the school 60m hurdles records at U12-14 level and will be representing London in the English Schools finals.

Colfe’s’ tennis stars have been fizzing with excitement this term. 16 tennis enthusiasts were treated to a day at Eastbourne to watch, amongst others, Emma Radacanu in action. Meanwhile, Alex (Y10) has had a busy few weeks playing tennis against David Hayes’ son and Emma Radacanu’s former coaches son, which he won with his partner, and also won his singles title in Edinburgh.

Cricket has also seen impressive results as the U15 girls cricket team took the silver medal at the county hardball 8s.
