Outstanding GCSE results at Colfe’s
Colfe’s is celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results with more than a quarter of this year’s cohort gaining at least 5 A* grades. Latin was the top performing subject with all pupils gaining A*/A grades, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics topped 80% and 86% respectively, with Religious Studies reaching 85% A*/A – many other subjects saw significant improvement on last year’s results which set a new record for the school.
Just under 60% of grades were A* or A. The figure rises to 85% with the inclusion of B grades. Read the full results table.
Amongst the individual successes Jack achieved 10 A* grades and two A grades, “I have valued the support from my teachers so much and their help around exam time with the
Tougher Minds programme made it all feel less stressful. I am looking forward to starting the Sixth Form at Colfe’s and studying Maths, Economics, History and Geography at A-Level.”
Simone achieved 11 A* grades, “I can’t believe this is really happening, I am so happy with my results. I now hope to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Geography at A-Level here in the Sixth Form”.
Headmaster Richard Russell said “We are delighted with these excellent results at the end of a year of much speculation regarding GCSE. Pupils and teachers have been told repeatedly that the top grades were to become less accessible and the Colfe’s class of 2017 have risen to the challenge. I congratulate them all and look forward to welcoming them back to school next week as they embark on their A level courses.”
