Outstanding A-level results for Colfe's

Colfe’s students and staff are celebrating an outstanding set of A-level results for 2023, way above the national average in a year that has seen top results drop overall.

88% of grades awarded were A*-B with 58% A*-A. 95% will attend their chosen university including Russell Group, other leading competitive universities, Medicine, and Oxbridge. This year also sees our highest number of students choosing to study degree apprenticeships. BTEC grades in Creative Media Production and Sport & Exercise Science were announced earlier in the summer, with all students receiving the top-level awards of Distinction or Merit in both subjects.

Course choices are as varied as ever including Law, Medicine, Engineering, Geography and Architecture as well as Computer Science, Product Design, Media Studies, and Marketing. The popularity of degree apprenticeships continues to grow with seven students choosing to start their careers this way across a range of areas including Lloyds Banking, JP Morgan, MBDA, the National Audit Office and the Metropolitan Police.

School Captains Alice A*/A*/A*/A* and Alex A*/A*/A*/A will read Geography at Edinburgh and Computer Science at Bristol, respectively. 11 students achieved three or more A* grades. Individual achievements included An-Nhi with A*/A*/A*/A* who will read Medicine at Keble College, Oxford and Louise with A*/A*/A*/A who will read Biomedical Science at St Hugh’s, Oxford.

Headmaster Richard Russell said: “The context of this year’s results was a determined drive from Ofqual to restore the pre-pandemic gold standard at A-level. The response of students and staff at Colfe’s has been magnificent, with whole school outcomes well ahead of our position in 2019. The range of university places and apprenticeships is more varied than ever, reflecting the uniqueness of each of our pupils. We wish them well for the future.”
