Year 13 pupil makes divisional U18 rugby squad

Year 13 pupil, James has been selected for the London & South East U18’s Divisional Rugby squad. Playing for the divisional team is a potential route into selection for the England squad and is a fantastic achievement.

To win his place on the squad, James took part in a trial competing against 50 other players in two rugby matches. Since selection, James has played in his first match against the South West of England division, not only winning the game 43-14, but scoring two tries and being awarded a Cap and Tie to mark his debut.

James who already captains the 1st XV U18 rugby team at Colfe’s, wears the number 8 shirt in the back row for Colfe’s, number 6 (flanker) for the divisional team, and plays number 5 (2nd row) for Blackheath Rugby Club.  He said: “I really enjoy playing with other high level players and appreciate the feedback from coaches. After each match we are sent a video to help us review our own performance which can be challenging but it’s also satisfying when I know I’ve played well.”

James’s next match is in Warwick and everyone in the Colfe’s community wishes him the best of luck for this fixture and all future divisional matches.
