Year 11 pupil qualifies for British Squash Junior Tournament

Year 11 pupil Freddie has qualified for the British Junior Squash Championships and will be competing in a Silver tournament at Warwick University. Although only 15 years old, Freddie will be playing in the U17 age category due to his hard work, dedication and skill as a squash player.

Playing squash for the past six years, Freddie has worked his way up the junior rankings, training up to five or six days a week at Beckenham Squash Club.

This is the first year that Freddie has been competing in the U17s – he’s already played at the British Junior Championships in Birmingham in early January where he notched up some impressive wins to take him to 45th in the British Junior rankings.

Freddie commented “I am looking forward to the tournament, I know I will be facing the toughest opponents in each round and it will be hard, but I will try my best on every point and I will only improve from playing matches like these.”

Nicci Rayes, Director of Sport said “We are very proud of Freddie and what he has achieved. Qualifying for a Silver Tournament is impressive and this event attracts the very best players from around the country. We will be cheering for him.”
