World Book Day celebrations at Colfe’s

Colfe’s Junior School celebrated World Book Day in style this year. Children and teachers went to town with book characters including Harry Potter, Where’s Wally, Tigger, Aladdin and Peter Pan. There was a noticeable Roald Dahl theme with Matilda, The Witches, The Enormous Crocodile and The BFG, to name but a few.

Our artistic Junior School pupils also fashioned some of their favourite book characters from potatoes. There were fantastic entries including The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Willy Wonka, The Beast of Buckingham, Paddington Bear, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Mr Tickle, Winnie the Pooh and Cinderella, among many others. Well done to all our children who took part and to their parents for their creative direction!

World Book Day is a registered charity on a mission to give every child and young person a book of their own. It is also a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and a celebration of reading. It is the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
