‘Virtual’ House Music

Staff and pupils in the Music Department have been working hard to keep performance thriving during lockdown and this year’s House Music Competition was no exception.

As well as 80 solo entries, each House submitted an ensemble performance created from solo recordings edited together.

Bramley House won overall. Year 12 pupil Amy was also awarded Best Soloist and Prendegast House won Best Ensemble.

Director of Music Benedict Holmes said “Congratulations to everyone who performed in the competition. The sheer number of entries is testament to the enthusiasm and commitment of our musicians at Colfe’s. I would like to thank the musical directors in each House, who did a superb job of encouraging pupils across every year group to participate and for editing the final recordings together.”

Deputy Head Donna Graham said “It has been an enormous privilege to listen to the House Music entries in the last few days. I have been so very impressed by the standard. Producing such high quality music with technical challenges in the middle of lockdown is extra special and makes me very proud of our school and our pupils.”

Special thanks go to the Heads and Assistant Heads of House, and to Mr Holmes and the Music Department for their hard work on making this event such a success.
