Trinity Laban Recital Series returns

As part of the Trinity Laban Conservatoire Recital Series, we were delighted to welcome The Meridian Guitar Quartet into school to perform for pupils.

The Quartet was formed in September 2018, under the tutelage of Graham Devine, guitar teacher at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and is currently comprised of four Trinity Laban classical guitar students or alumni: Antoine Assaf, Kolja Gibbs, Bárbara Matos and Alex Roche.

Since the group formed it has performed around London in concerts and masterclasses, in venues such as Southwark Cathedral, King’s Place, St Alfege’s Church, Polish Hearth Club, Old Royal Naval College Chapel, Morden College, Wigmore Hall and King’s College.

In October 2020, they were finalists in the Carne Trust Ensemble competition, and in the same year they were awarded the John Thompson String Ensemble Prize.

Mr Newberry, Teacher of Music, commented “It was a pleasure to welcome the Meridian Guitar Quartet for the first of our Trinity Laban Recitals this year. The programme featured an eclectic range of musical influences ranging from the tango to heavy metal and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the pupils.”
