Tougher Minds continues to help Colfe’s pupils

New elements introduced into the Tougher Minds programme are helping Year 7 pupils achieve their best both in the classroom and at home.

The focus of the programme is to help pupils improve their overall wellbeing and performance through setting realistic goals and targets. This helps them to learn to control their academic and social planning – with sleep, diet and exercise being key ingredients in the recipe for success.

Colfe’s has been working with the award-winning Tougher Minds consultancy since 2012 and pupils and parents are reporting that new methods introduced since the beginning of the year are already having a positive impact. These include new techniques such as ‘Change Factors’, ‘Retrieval Practice’ and ‘Will Power Stories’.

Year 7 pupil Emily said “I noticed that I was not getting enough sleep, so I used the ‘Change Factors’ technique to help to build better habits. I get more sleep every night and feel so much better. I now revise more using the new techniques and set tasks for myself using the school’s Firefly system so that I feel more organised and prepared.”

Emily’s mum Lisa also said “Emily has been using the Tougher Minds planner which has definitely improved her confidence and given her more energy. By raising her self-awareness she has been able to make new friends and take full advantage of all the opportunities she has at school.”
