Cadets go for Gold
Cadets from Years 10-12 in the CCF (Combined Cadet Force) Squadron spent the summer holidays working on their Duke of Edinburgh Awards (DofE) and Mountain Skills qualification.
There were two exercises: one in the Lenham area in Kent for Bronze and Silver Awards; and the second more demanding expedition in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park for Silver and Gold candidates’ training and assessments in wild country.
Alex Hagelberg Year 13, was one of four who achieved their Gold awards. He said, “Gold DofE is a lot about leadership and coping under pressure. Being part of CCFF has really changed me as a person. I’m much more resilient and confident especially when things don’t quite go to plan. Now I know that I can cope and more important help others to cope too in any situation.”
