John Glyn Society Lecture: Beyond STEM – STEAM!

Colfe’s was delighted to welcome Nick Corston for the latest in the John Glyn Scholars’ Society Lecture series. Mr Corston spoke with passion about the importance of creativity and inserting Art into the STEM subjects.

Mr Corston co-founded STEAM Co, a non-profit social enterprise with the aim of promoting creativity in education, and integrating Art with the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects. Described by the Guardian newspaper and Wired magazine as a ‘man on a mission, he is listed in the top 100 global edtech leaders by the influential Hot Topic group.

Josh, Year 11, wrote:

“It was a pleasure to hear Mr Corston’s unique and inspirational perspective on adding a creative, human touch to modern innovation and society. He gave us empowering stories emphasising the necessity of creativity as an integral part of our increasingly STEM driven world and highlighted the importance of human connections and innovation at a time when AI is presented as being a replacement.”

The John Glyn Scholars’ Society lectures are intended to enhance the experience of those who have won scholarships to Colfe’s, enabling students to hear external speakers with widely different interests and areas of expertise.
