The John Glyn Scholars’ Society

Miatta Fahnbulleh, Chief Executive of the New Economics Foundation, addresses The John Glyn Scholars’ Society.

The John Glyn Scholars’ Society was set up to enrich the academic life of the school through an annual programme of lectures which are compulsory for academic scholars and enjoyed by many others in the school community.

The lecture series covers topics outside of the curriculum aiming to foster intellectual curiosity, challenge perceptions and spark discussion and interest. Past speakers have included: Old Colfeian Charlie Whittaker, Research Fellow in mathematical modelling and infectious disease epidemiology; Miatta Fahnbulleh, Chief Executive of the New Economics Foundation, examining climate change and inequality; and art critic Charlotte Mullins exploring the question Can Art Change the World?

These are big topics and the lectures offer unique opportunities for students to engage with high-profile experts in their fields.
