Happy 100th Birthday Captain Tom Moore

Military veteran and NHS fundraiser, Captain Tom Moore, turns 100 today (Thursday 30 April) and Colfe’s Year 1 pupils have been making posters and sending cards wishing him many happy returns.

Tom Moore has hit the headlines recently due to his incredible fundraising efforts for the NHS. After setting an original target of £1000, a staggering £29 million has now been donated after Tom walked 100 laps of his Bedfordshire garden with the aid of a walking frame to mark his hundredth birthday. He has now extended his challenge to 200 laps. Pupils were inspired by Captain Tom’s extraordinary achievement and described him as ‘amazing’, ‘strong’ and ‘awesome’.

Catriona Macleod, Head of Junior School said: ”The cards and art work from Year 1 are wonderful. I can’t think of a more worthy recipient than Tom Moore. He is truly an inspiration to us all at this most challenging time.”
