Colfe’s pupils win National Youth Theatre places

Three Colfe’s senior school pupils have won places in the prestigious, and highly competitive National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. Emeka (Y13), Ellen (Y10) and Maya (Y9) auditioned against over 5,000 students across the country to win one of just 500 coveted places.

Natalie Maher, Director of Drama, said “We are incredibly proud of all our students who auditioned this year. Taking part in the audition process is so exciting, but also takes determination, resilience and real grit. The National Youth Theatre is a wonderful stepping-stone for our ambitious and talented students, and we are absolutely thrilled that Emeka, Ellen and Maya won their well-deserved places.”

The talented trio join a distinguished list of 18 Colfe’s students who have secured NYT places over the last five years. NYT membership lasts until a student is in their mid-20s, providing exclusive opportunities for casting and performances, and several of Colfe’s older NYT members are currently auditioning for upcoming productions.

As part of the audition process, the students were able to resume the energetic NYT practitioner workshop in The Beardwood theatre again this year for the first time in three years following Covid restrictions.
