Colfe’s pupils join National Youth Theatre

Five pupils from Colfe’s Senior School have been invited to join the highly prestigious National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.

Francesca (Y12), Millie (Y10) and Denny (Y10) secured invites to the National Youth Theatre after auditioning for an acting course. Arthur (Y11) won a place following his audition for a sound engineering course and Oliver (Y13), who holds an offer to Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance, was extended an invite after auditioning for a lighting course. Upon completion of the course, all five will become company members and granted access to exclusive castings and performance opportunities.

The application process is highly competitive. This year Colfe’s put forward 18 pupils for acting course auditions and five were interviewed for technical courses.

Denny (Y10) said, “I feel incredibly blessed to be part of such a nationwide company that provides many opportunities for young actors and inspire you to do things you never thought you could.”

Millie (Y10) said, “Once you get into the National Youth Theatre, you are a member until your mid-20s, so I feel really lucky and grateful to have been given a place!”

Colfe’s Director of Drama, Natalie Maher said, “We are so proud of all our students who auditioned this year. Just taking part in the workshop audition was an inspiring experience. The National Youth Theatre is a wonderful stepping stone for our ambitious and talented students. It is huge achievement to win a place in this prestigious company and have the opportunity to work with professionals in the industry. This is testament to the hard work that my team and technician have put into preparing our students and nurturing their talent both onstage and backstage.”

Last year, six Colfe’s pupils from the Senior School were also invited to join the National Youth Theatre.
