Clubs and trips are back!

The start of the summer term has seen the much-anticipated return of clubs and trips at Colfe’s.

Across the school over 100 clubs are now on offer, within year groups bubbles, and held outdoors where possible.

In the Senior School the Sports Department is offering boys’ and girls’ cricket, tennis, swimming and water polo sessions. There are options for most year groups in Drama and Music and specialist Geography and Library clubs for Year 7 pupils.

The range of clubs on offer in the Junior School includes Science, The Great Outdoors, Construction as well as Sport and Dance for pupils in Reception and Key Stage 1. Meanwhile Film Club, Choir and ICT have proved some of the more popular choices in Key Stage 2.

As Covid restrictions ease, the second part of the summer term will see trips to Reculver Country Park for GCSE Geography pupils, a visit to London Zoo for Year 12 Psychology students and Nursery children exploring the nature trail at Horton Kirby Environmental Centre.

Deputy Head Donna Graham says “We are delighted that clubs and extra-curricular trips are now becoming possible once again. Duke of Edinburgh and CCF outings are in the process of planning and we hope to begin inter-school sport fixtures around 17 May. Auditions for the Year 9 Drama production took place this week and rehearsals for various musical ventures are underway. It remains to be seen what will be possible in terms of audiences, however, and we expect the pupil bubbles to be with us for some time.”

Head of Junior School Catriona Macleod says “After-school clubs are an important part of life at Colfe’s and the support for their return has been overwhelmingly positive. We ensure there is a wide variety of options each week so there really is something to suit everyone. It’s been lovely to see how enthusiastic all the children are about taking part.”
