Book quiz success

For the third year running, a team of Colfe’s pupils have come first place in the Children’s Writers and Illustrators for Stories and Literacy South London Schools’ book quiz.

Colfe’s took three teams made up of Year 7 and 8 pupils to the competition – the first in-person book quiz since the start of the pandemic. The A team took first place, whilst the B and C teams tied second with a team from the host school, Dulwich College.

As well as answering questions, pupils had the opportunity to meet authors and hear them read extracts from their books.

Henrietta Englefield, Head Librarian, said “We were delighted to bring home the trophy again. Despite this being a new experience for all the pupils involved, they embraced it with enormous enthusiasm. Ten of the twelve students were from Year 7 – it’s great to know that there is such a depth of new quiz talent.”

House Battle of the Books, later in the term, will be hotly contested.
