The summer term began with a burst of creativity with the annual Media Studies End of Year Show, showcasing the work of Colfe’s’ talented Media students.

The event celebrated the work produced by AS, A2 Media Studies and BTEC Creative Digital Media Production students, and included a screening of the moving image projects produced by the students. The show included a screening of both Y12 and Y13 Media Studies coursework, along with the Creative Digital Media Production students’ Unit10 Film Production final films from 2024.

In Y12 the students create the opening two minutes of a commercial film, including institutional elements such as production company logos and title sequences. In Y13 A2 Media, students make a fully realised music video, while the Y13 BTEC students have the chance to make a 5–7-minute short film. A fantastically wide variety of genre and style was on display, from fast-paced action to exploration of social issues, with a special nod to the surreal horror genre and several ‘jump scares’ for the audience.

Head of Media Studies, Craig Foxall, said: “We are so proud that our students had the opportunity to see their work on the big screen with family and friends in the audience. Thank you to my colleagues Mr Osei-Tutu and Mr Cheung for their coordination of this special evening. We would also like to thank all those who attended the event, but the biggest thanks and a special mention goes to all of our Media Studies students for their hard work, creativity and commitment.”
