Excitement is building for Christmas in the Junior school, with pupils enjoying a busy December calendar packed with productions, concerts and other seasonal activities.
Years 1 and 2 kicked off the festivities with a buoyant performance of Christmas with the Aliens, a modern nativity in which the traditional Christmas story is retold to some alien visitors stranded on Earth. Supported by the Y1 choir, Y2 pupils relished their roles as either traditional nativity characters or aliens, with plenty of heartily sung numbers.
Pupils in Years 3 and 4 performed a fabulously flamboyant musical, Strictly Aladdin, an explosion of sequins and sparkle, and full of brilliantly performed dances and songs from the enthusiastic performers.
The youngest pupils, in Nursery and Reception, treated the audience to a charming nativity, Whoops-a-Daisy Angel, telling the story of a delightful but disorganised angel given the important task of showing the way to Bethlehem. The Nursery children greatly enjoyed their roles as snowflakes or farm animals, while Reception pupils performed their traditional nativity parts and percussion accompaniment with much pride.
The final week of term promises more festive fun, with pupils from Nursery to Y6 braving the drizzle to take part in the traditional ‘Santa Dash’, Christmas Jumper Day, a special ‘Elf Workshop’ and a Christmas Book Tasting session which sees classrooms transformed into cosy restaurants complete with virtual ‘crackling fires’ and book menus, while the Carol Concert and the ever-popular Carols in the Playground round off the term .
