House Drama Competition

One of the most hotly contested events of the year, the annual House Drama competition took place this week.

Students from Beardwood, Bramley, Norton and Prendergast auditioned and rehearsed, sourced costume and props and made sets to put together a range of short performances to win the coveted House Drama shield. With a cast made up of students from Years 7-9 and directed by Sixth Formers, there was a huge array of talent on display, and a tremendous reception from the audience packing out the Beardwood theatre.

The four performances were: Legally Blonde (Beardwood), Bramtastic Mr Fox (Bramley), Peter Pan Goes Wrong (Norton), and Grease (Prendergast). The judging panel was led by Faisal Dacosta, actor, director and producer who also works as an SEN teacher at Colfe’s, supported by Director of Drama Natalie Maher.

After a tense wait, the winning House was declared to be Bramley, with their highly entertaining adaptation of the stage version of the Roald Dahl tale.

Director of Drama Natalie Maher said: “The annual House Drama Competition is a highlight of the calendar. It provides a fantastic opportunity for pupils to learn and develop a range of skills both on and off stage, including teamwork, collaboration, independent learning, confidence, directing, design and costume. Well done to Bramley for taking the prize this year, and to every one of our performers, directors and members of technical team for working so hard to produce such excellent productions.”
