House Drama Competition
Back in front of a live parental audience for the first time since Covid, the annual Colfe’s House Drama Competition took place on Thursday 22 September. Performers from Years 7-9 competed for the prestigious House Drama Shield to an enthusiastic audience in the Beardwood Theatre.
The four productions were: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Bramley), Romeo and Juliet (Beardwood), The Adams Family (Norton), and Bugsy Malone (Prendergast). After thrilling performances from all and a nailbiting decision, the winning house was announced as Prendergast.
The annual House Drama Competition is a highlight of the yearly calendar, and as well as being enormous fun, provides an invaluable opportunity for pupils to learn and develop a range of dramatic skills both in front and behind the stage, including teamwork, collaboration, independent learning, confidence, directing, design and costume. The productions were directed by Sixth Formers and some Y11 students, with a judging panel comprising Natalie Maher, Director of Drama, Danielle Sutherland, Drama Teacher, and former A level Theatre Studies student Zoe Calvert.
