Colfe’s girls continue their winning streak, with some notable results in a number of sports.
Fencing star Thea (Y10) continues her meteoric rise in the sport, playing well above her age category, after winning the Invicta Open competition in Canterbury. She saw off competition from leading adult fencers in the senior category, and was presented with a ceremonial medieval winner’s sword along with her winner’s medal. She then represented Colfe’s at the Public Schools competition in the U17 category, taking the bronze medal after an exceptionally close bout with the UK’s highest-ranking player.
In water polo, the U18 girls performed brilliantly to take first place trophy in the English Schools’ Swimming Association (ESSA) National Plate championship, an achievement that sees the team consolidate its place as sixth best in the UK. Hoping to match that result, the U15 girls are through to the National Final championship in the same competition.
The U12 teams in both netball and hockey are enjoying winning streaks; the U12 Hockey B team won Silver medals in the London Schools Tier 3 competition, while the U12 netball team are through to the finals of the Sisters n Sport National Bowl finals.
Director of Sport Nicci Rayes said: “The girls are absolutely flying in sport this term, we have seen some excellent team and individual results. It has been great for the younger players to see the success of the older players, particularly the water polo U15 team who have been greatly inspired by the teamwork and dedication of the U18 team.”
