T
he Senior Drama department is celebrating outstanding results from the students’ recent LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations. 78% of students obtained the top-level result, a Distinction, and 100% of students obtained either a Distinction or Merit, the best results the school has achieved.
The LAMDA exams strive to empower pupils to be effective, confident communicators and performers, in hopes that they will maintain these skills throughout their education and future careers. Colfe’s pupils can sit exams in Musical Theatre and Public Speaking sessions as well as LAMDA Acting.
Many of the students took to the stage in the post exam LAMDA showcase, in addition to their exam success, where they delivered powerful monologues, brought comedy to life, shared stories through song and brought texts to life through performances of prose or captivating pieces of poetry.
Evelyn Smith, LAMDA Coordinator and Tutor, was impressed by the results of the cohort, saying: “To every one of our performers: your results are a testament to your talent and tenacity. You should be immensely proud of all that you have achieved. We certainly are. Congratulations on this fantastic success—I can’t wait to see where our LAMDA journey takes us to next!”
The showcase highlighted not only students’ technical skill but also the creativity, courage, and connection each individual brought to their work. The dedication each student showed throughout their learning journey has been remarkable. Their efforts have truly paid off, with results that speak volumes about their talent and growth.
Natalie Maher, Director of Drama and LAMDA Musical Theatre/ Public Speaking Tutor, said of the students’ success: “I am so proud that 100% of our students either achieved a Distinction or Merit, the skills that they have gained from this experience are invaluable”.
