A balmy summer evening was the perfect setting for the much-anticipated annual End of Year Art and Photography Private View.

The End of Year Show allows Colfe’s’ budding creatives the chance to show off their hard work from their GCSEs and A-levels in Art, Photography and Design & Technology.

The exhibition featured a range of mediums, including paintings, sculpture, mixed media, textiles, films, lithographs, etchings, installations, and photographs. The art department in the Beardwood was full with students’ insightful pieces which touched on a range of themes including union, gatherings, intertwine and angles.

The artwork on show was hugely varied from large mixed-media paintings and moving sculptures to a paper model of the city and fine line etchings, showing the breadth of artistry and creativity within the students that is nourished by the Art Department.

A-Level Art Student Xanthe (Year 13) said, “Having the opportunity to present my hard work to fellow students and parents in a more formal setting made me feel even prouder of the effort I have put in over the last two years, I am glad the Art Department use the End of Year Art Show to celebrate our art”.

Photography pieces were spread throughout the Beardwood foyer where students’ eye for detail and originality could be well observed.

Naomi Gudge, Head of the Visual Arts and Photography Faculty, praised the outcome of the students: “The creativity and drive shown by this cohort of A-Level and GCSE students is truly evident by their excellent interpretations of the set units. I am incredibly proud of all of them and hope that their originality and innovative spirit continues to develop”.

Selected pieces from the show can be seen in the gallery below.
