Creativity Showcased at End of Year Media Show
The Summer term opened in spectacular style with the school’s first ever End of Year Media Show, showcasing the creativity and technical skills of the Year 13 Media Studies A-level and BTEC students.
The event shone a spotlight on the productions, with parents and students invited to the Beardwood Theatre where the students’ Music Videos, Short Films and Opening Sequences were screened.
Craig Foxall Head of Media Studies said: “We were so thrilled to hold our first ever End of Year Show to celebrate the fantastic work produced by our talented Year 13 Media Studies students. Both the BTEC and A-level Media Studies students have worked incredibly hard, and have created some outstanding films and videos. We were delighted that parents and the wider community had a chance to see the talent and creativity for themselves.”
Media Studies is a very popular course at both A-level and BTEC, with over 30 current Year 13 students across both courses. The subject involves pupils making their own films, writing their own newspapers, setting up their own websites, creating their own music videos and cross media campaigns. It’s extremely hands-on; pupils interact with modern technology in lots of ways, using the latest IT programmes and video and sound editing software.
