Lifeguarding is a great position for young people, looking for their first job, or as a second job to help increase your income. Colfe’s Leisure Centre operate in-house lifeguard courses throughout the year. Courses are five days, with a mixture of theory and practical work.

Requirements

• A minimum of 16 years old
• Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
• Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
• Tread water for 30 seconds
• Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design allows

Application Form

NRASTC is a supervision and rescue award for swimming teachers, coaches and (or) instructors working during programmed activities, such as swimming lessons. It is suitable for teachers working in a wide range of swimming pools where the water depth is higher than the teachers’ standing depth and meets the individual facility’s Risk Assessment.

Requirements

• A minimum of 16 years old
• Swim a minimum of 50 metres on your front and back
• Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
• Climb out unaided without using steps or ladders (where venue design permits).

Application Form

The SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) qualification is a practical qualification to start your career in swimming. This qualification will provide you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to assist a qualified Swimming Teacher in delivering high quality inclusive swimming lessons in a range of settings, for example at a leisure centre, swim school or club learn to swim programme.

• You must be 16 years of age or older on the first day of the course.
• No formal entry requirements or prior experience required.

RLSS UK Paediatric First Aid Qualification

Royal Life Saving Society UK offers accredited Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualifications designed to meet the needs of a wide range of industries and workplace settings. Many of these courses are also endorsed by Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity, ensuring high industry standards.

This comprehensive two-day course is valid for three years and equips participants with essential lifesaving skills, including:

• Child and infant CPR
• Choking response
• Bleeding control
• Managing common childhood emergencies

Ideal for those working with children or in schools, wellness, fitness, and hospitality environments, the course provides both the confidence and practical skills to respond effectively in emergency situations.
