Colfe’s has been ranked 47th among independent schools nationally in this year’s Sunday Times Parent Power league table*, and 14th for A-level performance**.
The national ranking is the school’s highest ever, representing a jump of 32 places, and takes Colfe’s into the top 50 for the first time.
National A-level rankings saw Colfe’s achieve 14th place among independent schools, and 17th among the combined independent and state sector. Colfe’s 2025 A-level results saw 95% of grades awarded A*/A/B, ahead of local independent schools including Eltham College, Alleyn’s, St Dunstan’s College and Dulwich College.
Head Dan Gabriele said: “We are extremely proud that out of 301 independent schools nationwide, Colfe’s is ranked 47th, a significant rise from 79th last year and 65th the year before. Even more impressively, when ranked on A-level results alone, Colfe’s stands at 14th. This is a whole school achievement. Every member of staff contributes to the success of our pupils, and this progress reflects sustained effort and commitment – not at the expense of wellbeing but because of it. Happy pupils flourish, and this ranking is proof of that.”

The annual Parent Power survey of bursaries and scholarships on offer at the UK’s top 200 private schools reflects growing fears that financial assistance for students from poorer backgrounds will be sharply reduced due to the triple whammy of VAT on fees, the axing of business rates relief and higher national insurance contributions.
It comes at a time when the need for assistance has never been greater. “Each year we receive significant numbers of applications,” says Dan Gabriele, the headmaster of Colfe’s School in Lee, southeast London. “As we look to expand the programme to meet demand, we’ve established an endowment to complement the Leathersellers’ funding in perpetuity and the response has been remarkable.”
