In the run-up to the end of the Christmas term, pupils and staff across the Senior School have been delighted to hold several charity events.
Colfe’s pupils, families and staff were encouraged to donate goods in an annual collection in support of local foodbanks, Lewisham Foodbank and Helping Hands Foodbank, alongside Solace Women’s Refuge. A vast and varied of products were kindly donated, and were warmly welcomed by each of the organisations.
The Sixth Form Committee were pleased to once again organise a project aimed at bringing Christmas cheer to the residents of Brymore House care home in Lee, assembling Christmas hampers filled with essentials such as toiletries, festive treats such as biscuits and chocolates, puzzle books, playing cards, socks, craft activities, festive decorations, and other small, thoughtful items.
The penultimate day of term brought a riot of colour and sparkle as the whole school celebrated Christmas Jumper Day, with pupils and staff making donations to Save the Children.
Head of Charities Chris Morriss said: “Every year we are so grateful for the generosity of the Colfe’s community. We have had a wealth of practical support in the form of donations of food, items of clothing, children’s toys and personal gifts, and generous giving for our Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the Children.
“We were also extremely touched by the dedication of the Sixth Form Committee and the thoughtfulness of our pupils and families, who take a lot of care in thinking about the festive gifts they donate to the residents of Brymore House, to whom it makes a meaningful difference.”
