Bramley House stormed to victory at this year’s fiercely contested House Drama competition with an exuberant performance of a witty musical comedy penned by House student leaders led by Y13 Kirabo (School Captain).

House Drama is always a testament to the commitment, talent and spirit of the performers from Y7-Y9, and to the leadership and dedication of Sixth Formers who direct the productions, with Bramley’s piece Unscripted particularly notable as having been written by the student team – and for its droll observations about life at Colfe’s, some roasting of competing Houses and some daring but affectionate references to staff members that invoked plenty of hilarity from the pupils in the audience.

The performances from the other Houses covered a range of musical theatre titles, with Annie (Glyn), Peter Pan (Norton), Mamma Mia! (Beardwood) and Singin’ in the Rain (Prendergast), each presented with verve and gusto with great attention paid not only to the acting, singing and dancing but also to costume, make-up and productions.

Colfe’s was delighted to welcome renowned playwright, lyricist and screenwriter Jake Brunger as special guest judge for the competition. Jake is famed for his highly acclaimed adaptation of the Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ and the more recent production of The Great British Bake Off. His second film, Tinsel Town, starring Keifer Sutherland and Rebel Wilson, will be released later this year.
