Best Game in District Award for 1st XI Cricketers
The Colfe’s 1st XI cricket team enjoyed a special evening at Lord’s at the Kent and East Sussex district Forty Club annual dinner, where the team was awarded Best Game in the District for a thrilling match last summer.
The annual fixture against the Forty Club is a highlight of the cricket season, and the 2022 game was a nailbiting event, going right to the last ball to end in a draw. The game was judged to be the most exciting of the season, with an excellent spirit of play and a finish so exciting that some of the crowd stayed to watch rather than go and watch a professional match at the Oval.
The award is a fitting tribute to Old Colfeian Geoff Rameaux, who managed the annual game for many years, and who sadly passed away recently.
Mr Jack Potter, Master in charge of Cricket, said: “The annual match against the Forty club is one that we all look forward to, and this year’s was the most keenly contested. I would like to thank our fantastic team, the Forty Club for inviting us to the dinner, and for the award. I would also like to thank the late Geoff Rameaux for all the hard work he put in to organise the fixture over the years.”
