Excitement was palpable at this year’s House Music, as Beardwood picked up the trophy in an event that was as keenly contested as ever.

In a packed Senior Hall, Johnny (Y8) got the party started with a DJ set as guests arrived, before each of the five Houses performed ensemble and solo pieces to an audience of fellow pupils, parents, and staff. Colfe’s was delighted to welcome back former Director of Music Benedict Holmes, who joined us as Guest Judge.

Solo performances included an assured organ performance of Bach’s Fugue in D minor from Benjamin (Y11) for Beardwood and a fantastic take on Summertime from Naima (Y10) for Glyn, alongside spirited ensemble renditions of hits by the likes of Oasis, Elton John, Bastille, Journey and The Greatest Show. The staff band, meanwhile, blew the audience away with an unapologetically loud performance of Living on a Prayer.
