Annie Price shares her story at Year 12 Forum
Broadcaster and fitness trainer Annie Price shared her inspirational story to a rapt audience of Sixth Form students at the latest in the Year 12 Forum series.
Annie’s story was told publicly in a 2017 BBC documentary, Annie Out of the Ashes. When she was just a baby the caravan she was living in caught fire; Annie grew up believing that her Irish Traveller mother had deliberately set the caravan alight, supposedly fearing stigma after giving birth to a mixed-race baby whose father was not part of the Traveller community. Subsequently adopted, 30 years later Annie set out to investigate her past to find out the truth of what happened; could her late birth mother have been innocent, and simply blamed for an accidental fire by her outraged community?
Named as one of the 2018 BAFTA Breakthrough Brits, Annie is now a successful TV presenter, fitness trainer and ambassador for the BBC Tiny Happy People campaign encouraging communication and language skills in pre-school children.
