Junior School Admissions

We help you to learn and to grow

Entrance to Colfe’s Junior School is via age-appropriate assessment at the main entry points: Nursery, Reception and Year 3.

Nursery & Reception Assessment (3+ and 4+)

We have two nursery classes (approx. 40 places) and an additional entry point for Reception (approx. further 20 places). Assessment happens in the autumn term of the year preceding entry, and places are offered before the end of the same term. Please note we do not offer scholarships or bursaries in the Junior School.

The process involves relaxed, child-friendly sessions with an experienced Early Years practitioner. More of what to expect at the sessions can be found here.

Year 3 Assessment (7+)

We have a limited number of places available each year to join Year 3 (approx. 6-8 places). Assessment happens in the autumn term of the year preceding entry, and places are offered before the end of the same term.

The process involves spending a morning at the school; sitting age-appropriate papers in Mathematics and English (including Comprehension, Creative Writing and Spelling); and an informal interview with a member of the senior team. We are looking for children who are achieving at an above average academic level in their current cohort, and who can join a new school with enthusiasm and ease.
