Inspired to Teach
In-house teacher training for talented graduates
Teaching is a career like no other, every day is different. Being part of a school community is like being part of a family – a uniquely rewarding experience.
Our staff community is supportive, inclusive and vibrant. Staff are relaxed without being casual, and professional without being stuffy. A Colfe’s teacher is dedicated and passionate, and will recognise, nurture and develop the potential in every child. Our teachers inspire our pupils, and we want to inspire teachers.
We offer in-house teacher training for talented graduates in many subject areas. When employed and if you meet the eligibility criteria, you can become a qualified teacher through our graduate training programme, with mentoring and full formal training leading to a QTS and PGCE – all while receiving a salary.
If you are an undergraduate in your final year of study, recent graduate or career-changer thinking about teaching, our Inspired to Teach @Colfe’s Taster Days on Friday 13 December 2024 and 7 March 2025 will allow you to experience what teaching is like in a real-world environment.
You will gain insight into the programme with subject specialist advice, meet current Colfe’s teachers who have graduated from the scheme, discover the benefits of a Apprenticeship programme and experience the breadth of opportunities for activities beyond the classroom.
Here’s what delegates said about the last Taster Day:
“It was absolutely brilliant to have the chance to speak to so many staff members at different levels and in different areas, students and teachers, and have the opportunity to experience three different lessons during the day, alongside all of the information provided during the presentations/talks.”
“It was so well structured and thought through, a brilliant range of sessions to attend/network/learn more and well paced too. If I could start tomorrow, I would!”
“Being able to speak to the students during the classes, as well as speaking to teachers was really useful. Hearing from real people and watching actual lessons is the best way to find out the real life of being a teacher.”
“We were given ample time to discuss the appeals of teaching with representatives of the school, and were able to get a good feel for Colfe’s school through that.”
