The Drama department whisked up a spectacular show for this year’s Winter Production with a joyous production of The Great British Bake Off Musical, performed by students from Year 10-13.

Based on the hit TV show, follows a group of amateur bakers as they enter Britain’s beloved baking competition. Over the course of the show, friendships are formed, rivalries rise, and personal stories unfold—each contestant bringing their own hopes, fears, and quirks to the tent. From the pressure of technical challenges to the glory of the showstopper round, the production mixed comedy, songs, drama, and heart-warming moments in a joyous ensemble performance.

The GBBO musical was co-written by playwright and lyricist Jake Brunger, who Colfe’s was delighted to welcome as head judge at this year’s House Drama competition. Senior school musicians provided a wonderful accompaniment to Pippa Cleary’s musical numbers including Somewhere in the Dough, The Perfect Petit Fours and Don’t Send Me Home.

Director of Drama Natalie Maher said: “A huge congratulations to the talented cast and crew for serving up this deliciously feel-good production. Both on and off-stage, every student involved showed excellent creativity, teamwork and confidence – they definitely rose to the occasion. We were also delighted to continue our ongoing connection with the show’s writer, Jake Brunger, who has judged our House Drama competition for the past two years. My heartfelt thanks also go to our brilliant production team, musical director Fiona Greenwood, our superb choreographer Michaela Snee and my wonderful creative co-directors.”
