A-level success despite year of uncertainty
Colfe’s students have achieved consistently high A-level results during a period of unprecedented uncertainty. Over 82% scored A*/B grades with a record number of students achieving the highest grades of A*/A at 53% – way above the national average.
80% of students gained a place at their first choice university with two students securing places at Oxbridge. Of the many individual success stories Juan Garcia Valencia, who joined Colfe’s Sixth Form as a Leatherseller Scholar from Trinity, Lewisham, achieved A*/A*/A*/A and will read Geography at St. Hilda’s College, Oxford “ I am incredibly grateful for all the support given to me by my subject teachers and tutors at Colfe’s and I can’t wait to start”. Eleanor Chung, A/A/A, will read Music at Jesus College, Oxford and Roxana Willingdale who achieved A*/A*/A* will read Physics at Bristol University “I didn’t expect to achieve such high grades given the uncertainty around COVID-19 so I’m really pleased with my results.”
Headmaster Richard Russell said “It is a great relief to see such wonderful results emerging from the chaos of recent days. We knew this was a very strong year group and I welcome this opportunity to congratulate all pupils and staff without reservation. It remains the case, however, at Colfe’s and elsewhere, that a number of pupils have been unfairly impacted by government decisions. We will do all that we can in the days ahead to secure the right outcomes for those who have been unfairly affected.”
