A-level results day for Colfe’s students
Colfe’s A-level results have topped 80% A*/B for a fourth year running. In a year in which the exams watchdog Ofqual had predicted extreme volatility following the introduction of new qualifications, the A*/A statistic at Colfe’s rose from 44% last year to 47% this year, enabling a high proportion of pupils to secure their places at prestigious UK universities. Amongst the many individual successes this year were Benjamin Andrew who has been at Colfe’s since nursery. Ben achieved three A* grades and will attend Durham University to read Economics. Maria Mobio, who joined Colfe’s Sixth Form from Deptford Green as a Leatherseller Scholar, also achieved three A*grades and will be applying to Cambridge to read Mathematics. Oyinkan Odumade secured a place to read Modern Languages at Clare College, Cambridge and Ruby Collins achieved a prestigious scholarship to study Music at the Guildhall.
Benjamin said “It was such a relief to open my results and to see that I got more than I could have hoped for. After 15 years at Colfe’s the thought of leaving is strange but I am excited to be attending my first choice University.”
Headmaster Richard Russell congratulated all pupils and teachers. “This has been a year of much uncertainty with new qualifications in more than half of the subjects examined. Pupils have excelled themselves in achieving even more top grades than last year and teachers have worked tirelessly to prepare their classes for the challenge of the new exams.”
