Prefects
The school has around 30 prefects who are chosen by a process which involves the students in the
Lower Sixth, the staff and the Headmaster. They are appointed in the final term of Year 12 (the
Lower Sixth) and serve until their study leave of Year 13 (the Upper Sixth). There are two joint
school captains, eight senior prefects (some of whom have particular responsibilities such as Art
& Sport) and around twenty prefects. Prefects carry out daily duties in the dining hall during
morning break and lunch break and monitor reception each morning prior to the start of school. In
addition they help at almost every school function including parents’ evenings, church services,
school productions and open days. Without their assistance, these functions would not run so
smoothly. Being appointed as a prefect is an honour as it is an important post as it trains sixth
formers to become future leaders and managers.
